Will you get any alone time if you dorm on campus?

I enjoy my alone time and I didn't know if that would be impossible when I am living with another person in such a small room. #college

Rachel’s Answer

You will have alone time, but you may not get to have that time exactly when you want it. Having someone else living with you can limit your freedom to a degree but can also provide you with encouragement, companionship, and cheaper rent.

Richard’s Answer

Yes, you will most likely get plenty of alone time. Many students at college spend a lot of time away from their dorm being in class, extracurriculars, eating, at social gatherings, or in other study spaces (people usually do not study in their dorm room). As such, any roommate you get will spend a lot of time outside the dorm and you can be alone as much as you want.

Katie’s Answer

Typically, yes, you will have alone time. Your roommate will have to attend classes, so you can always attempt to set up your schedule to allow you to have more alone time.

Do not feel like you have to become your roommate's best friend or participate in everything she does. Choose your activities based on your interests, and enjoy alone time when she is participating in what she likes.

You may also be able to find other places on campus to carve out time for yourself. There are study spaces and green spaces that may give you the feeling of getting away from people.
