Mariarosaria’s Answer

Hi D'Avion,

I was always projected toward Sciences and Medicine probably since the day I was born, but the schools I pursued also did help me with the choice and did address me toward Clinical Biology, in my case.

My high school program was mainly based on math and sciences and after this I decided to enroll in Biological Sciences University program choosing the address for Clinical Biology and which was requiring a year of post- internship by Hospitals' Laboratories. This did happen in the country where I was born, not sure exactly about the proper steps in US, but they should not be so different.

The itinerary is always the same approximately: high school, college or university and internship.

Richard’s Answer

I chose to become a physician because I have many family members who are physicians and it looked like a field in which I find job satisfaction. However, I did not truly become passionate about the field of medicine until my third year of medical school during clinical rotations. That was the first time I saw an image guided procedure. I was fascinated by the intersection between medical imaging and treatment. I decided that I wanted to become an interventional radiologist. Now I get to perform image guided procedures every day including angiograms, TIPS, radioembolization of tumors with Y-90, and thermal ablation of tumors.
