What do you need to join the us navy?

Hi my name is Jacob and I'm a 6th grader and I want to follow in my uncles footsteps and be in the us navy but what do you need to join? Do u need a clean record? Or does it not matter #navy

The most important thing to do is find out what you are naturally suited for by taking an interest and aptitude test to find out with which careers your interests are aligned. With that information, you can go to the Navy Recruiter and find out if that is something that you can get training for and do in the Navy. Also you can talk about other requirements. It would be good to complete high school before entering the Navy. The Navy offers training and experience in many career areas. You might choose to make the Navy a career, or you might choose to just stay in for the first term, return to civilian life, and have them pay for college for a civilian career.

Mary recommends the following next steps:

Be 17 w/ parental permission or 18
On track to graduate High School or get a GED (Preferably a diploma)
Talk w/ a recruiter
Take & score well on the ASVAB (Math & reading are crucial skills for this)
Pass a Health screening & Background check (Be reasonably healthy with no major health issues & have a clean background)
