What are the best courses to take if I want to be an archaeologist?
Ever since I was 3, I wanted to be an archaeologist/paleontologist. I am finding it very hard to find courses to take if I want to major in those fields. What are the best courses to take?

Archaeology is a social science, meaning you will use both science and humanities training in the field. For high school students interested in archaeology in college, I recommend taking science courses (especially biology) as well as history, language, world civilization, humanities. These will help you with your critical thinking skills and train you in doing research. You can also catch up on archaeology news with such publications as Archaeology Magazine (https://www.archaeology.org/) and Current World Archaeology (https://www.world-archaeology.com/).

Hi Veronika,
Great question! It is fantastic that you know what you are passionate and interested about. Although I am not in the archaeology field, some general advice that I learned in my career is that everything is figure-out-able. The first step I would take is to research colleges that offer archaeology or paleontology as a major/minor, which can be done by just searching on Google! Once you have found schools that offer this career path, you can see what courses each school would specifically require to obtain your degree.
Hope this helps!
