What's your first year of college like?

With 16 credit hours and not living on campus, I am not sure if I will be able to manage my time properly and just leave everything to the last minute.

Miryan, Congratulations on getting in and preparing to start your first year! The first year of college can be a lot of change but by starting to plan now, like you are doing, it will make it a lot easier. I would recommend setting aside dedicated times to do reading and studying. For example, take advantage of time in between classes when you are already on campus. Staying on track with the reading early in the semester and taking good notes during class will payoff at the end of the semester.

If you have a concept you are struggling with or get a bad grade on a test or paper that you weren't expecting, act early. Take advantage of office hours, peer tutoring, and resource centers.

Lastly, don't overlook the importance of making social connections too. This is especially important if you are living off campus. Be social in class and look for people to stay for exams with. Join clubs or intramural sports to meet new people.

WOW, this is a loaded one. The best two years of my life Freshman/Sophmore. Made it every party but. 1 in North Carolina. Though I did not complete the school for a degree I had the best experiences with the best friends. Eventually I finished at 2 Colleges, Pierce College and St Joseph University. Which tells you never give up or quit that degree is waiting for you.
