Is it worth it to apply to ivy league schools even though out of state tuition is much higher? I am worried I will have a lot of student debt and get homesick.

In state tuition is very cheap and there isn't any ivy league schools in utah.

Paul’s Answer

It depends upon how serious you are about attending the school. If cost was not an issue, would you still go? I ask because some of the ivy league schools have the best financial aid packages. Princeton, for example, is well known for offering students very generous financial aid packages that do not have a lot of loans attached.

So if debt will be reasonable, you have to self-evaluate and determine if you could handle going to school far away from home. If you really feel that will be an issue and you'll get homesick, don't apply. Instead, focus on those schools that are close to home. After all, just because a school isn't ivy league doesn't mean you can't get a quality education.

I really does not matter where you go to school. What really matters is how well you study to get the best grades and do face to face networking to get the advice of people in your career field. Here is an interesting site relating to the choice of college presented by a person who worked at Stanford University:
