Should I change study groups?

I currently study with a group of friends, but they are both biology majors and I am not. I enjoy studying with them, but also feel like I should study with someone that shares my major. #study #majors

Monica’s Answer

Are you getting the most benefit you can get from your current study group? You may not if 2 out of 3 are studying something you are not. You may be able to add another individual to your group with your same major. That would make one study group with 2 subgroups. The point of a study group is to have a support system that takes care of YOUR needs. Here is a website that talks about the benefits of Using Study Groups: https://www.educationcorner.com/study-groups.html. There may be a way for you to stay with your current group and still add to your study circle with other people.

Monica recommends the following next steps:

Look for a study partner in your major that you can invite to your current study group.
Find another study group and divide your time between current group and the new group.
Find a tutor that specializes in your major if you need extra help.
Thank you comment icon Hi Monica, your advice is awesome! I agree that you should ask yourself are you benefiting from the current study group; and being in a group should support YOUR needs. Great tip! Sheila Jordan

Atul’s Answer

Yes, if you will study with students with same major, it will help you out to learn more.

Studying with your major will help you in many ways:
In depth learning.
Continuous discussions will help you in memorising concepts.
Will get to know about opportunities as you will be having more sources.

If you like to spend time with your friends then you can divide some time to study with them.

Career first :)
