Emma’s Answer

When considering the best pre-physical therapy schools, it's crucial to look for institutions that offer strong undergraduate programs in areas like biology, kinesiology, or exercise science, which provide a solid foundation for pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Some notable institutions known for their excellent pre-physical therapy pathways include the University of Florida, University of Pittsburgh, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Washington, Boston University, University of Michigan, University of California, Davis, University of Delaware, University of Maryland, College Park, and Ohio State University.

These schools offer undergraduate majors that align well with the prerequisites for DPT programs and provide students with a strong academic foundation. However, it's important to keep in mind that gaining admission to DPT programs is highly competitive. In addition to academic excellence, aspiring physical therapists should seek out opportunities for hands-on experience in healthcare settings, such as internships, volunteering, or job shadowing, to enhance their chances of being admitted to DPT programs. Researching the specific admission requirements and prerequisites of your target DPT programs and maintaining a competitive GPA are essential steps on the path to becoming a physical therapist.

Alex’s Answer

Hamilton,

My sister had the same questions before she went to college for PT and now is in grad school for PT. The top 5 schools are University of Delaware, University of Southern California, University of Pittsburgh, Washington University in St. Louis and Emory University. Remember when you choose your school that it is a right fit for you and that you feel like you can excel there. You must pick a school that makes you happy as well and then you can fully commit 100% to your passion.
