Hello DeMetrius: Here are some advantages of getting a job on campus.

*Academic benefits and networking

*Location

*Tuition assistance

*Room and board

*Personal satisfaction

FYI, my daughter recently graduated from college. She lived off campus three years and worked on campus during that time. By working on campus she was able to transition from her classes and go straight to her job. Her apartment wasn't far from the college so commuting wasn't an issue. Hope this helps.

Please read the complete article to find out more on disadvantages of on campus jobs, advantages of off campus jobs, disadvantages of off campus jobs, and tradeoffs between on campus and off campus jobs.

CSUSM has their own website "CougarJobs" that makes browsing for jobs on campus easy! I also think having a job on campus will help you meet new people and get a feel for your new school! CSUSM has a large campus, with a lot of job availability, but make sure to prioritize time your studies (maybe Starbucks by the Library would be a great fit?)
