Not really. As long as you complete all your high school graduation requirements, you can wait to go to college to start focusing on becoming a teacher.
Yet, some would say that it depends on what type of teacher you want to become. If you want to be an English or Math teacher then you should take more of those classes as electives in high school. Others would say, you should take college level courses in high school that will lead to the type of teacher that you want to become. You may be able to use them for college credit, which in turn, would help you to off set the cost of college. The latter is the prevailing view nowadays because of the rising (astronomical) cost of college.
If possible, I agree with the prevailing view of taking college credits in school that will count towards being a teacher. You are doing two things at one time (preparing to become a teacher and gaining college credits to shorten your college stay).

Hi Bailey,
All of your classes in high school are important and will help you prepare for university courses. I'd look into volunteering ...... Check out local places where you can work with children to make sure this is what you want to do ..... the library, Boys and Girls Club, local after school program. Staying focused, being responsible, putting forth effort are skills you need to succeed in high school and beyond. My best advice is to volunteer with children to really make sure this will be your life's passion.
Good luck,
Stephanie
