Cindy’s Answer

The Major should be in the profession/career you are truly interested in.  There is nothing worse than wasting years of schooling to only find out the Major you've spent so much time on does not really interest you.

Cindy recommends the following next steps:

Suggest you pick a college/university that is Internationally recognized. You never know where life leads you.

Cindy’s Answer

One has to know in their heart the profession they choose to pursue.  If you are not aware of what profession you want to pursue, I suggest you take an aptitude test to see what skills and/or careers come naturally to you.  i.e.  https://richardstep.com/richardstep-strengths-weaknesses-aptitude-test/

In my heart, I've always wanted to be a Computer Scientist.  You have to follow your heart.

Best of Luck!

Cindy recommends the following next steps:

You may want to consider career shadowing. I suggest you contact the Human Resource departments of the companies for which you now have an interest in.
Also, you may want to do a Summer Internship. Again, I suggest you contact the Human Resource departments of the companies for which you now have an interest in.
You should go to the library and/or internet to research the career(s) you are interested in.

G. Mark’s Answer

First, check with guidance counselors to get recommendations for a personality assessment test. You could spend a lot of time researching, asking folks, trying out classes, etc. etc.. But my advice is to do this the most efficient way. This method is what has proven to be very successful in matching a person with an appropriate career choice. Instead of testing your aptitude for some set of skills, they take the approach of looking for correlations between your answers to many questions and those of people who are successful and happy in various careers. You may be really good at something, but you'd never enjoy doing it as a career. I always tell my students that, in general, you're good at what you like and you'll like what you're good at. So personality is at least as important as ability. You want a job that you'll be happy with. You'll likely be good at a major that you simply would do for fun.

Look for a test like RIASEC. It's a lot questions that often seem a bit odd. In my case, I tested as a good match for Engineer, Physicist, Actor or Park Ranger. Yeah -- that threw me. But check it out. Taking a test like this will give you great insight into where to start looking for something that will make you happy and successful.
