Why is it harder fro military members to find scholarships or grants for school?

As a military member it is more practical for us to o to school online. I have been researching for grants or scholarships with little luck. Anything that can make it easer would help #moneyforschool

Hi Rob - Quick question, have you looked into your GI Bill benefits or have you already exhausted those? My husband (a service-connected vet) used his Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits to complete a bachelors and masters program - the latter was about half online - and my brother-in-law is doing an online program with his to get his bachelors. The vets.gov website has more info - https://www.vets.gov/education/.

The only caveat would be that (if I remember correctly) if you're doing a purely online program, I don't think the housing stipend is as substantial as if you were attending on-campus. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Quick edit - I just discussed this with my husband too, and he mentioned that if you're still on Active Duty they should be able to finance your classes directly. I'd reach out to the powers that be to see what kinds of paperwork you'll need to file to get that going.

Thank you comment icon Yes I have exhausted all of my TA for the year and I transferred my GI bill benefits to my wife for her to go to school as well. I have not found a lot a scholarships or grants for military unless you are disabled or lost a parent in combat Rob
