Hi Brittany,

I myself have not had counseling with a LCSW before to be able to give you better insight. I would recommend contacting a local agency and request an informational interview, An informational interview is an informal session where you have to opportunity to learn from someone in a particular career or organization to understand what they do a little better. It's a great way to get your in depth questions answered. Hope this helps!

I think the best place to start would be to seek out local practices in your area to see if there are internships available. With each practice and each therapist potentially specializing in a certain area, it's hard to generalize what exactly working within that environment might look like. In searching out a specific internship, you might get a glimpse into the day-to-day routine and tasks involved in working within a practice.
