Hey!

I would say that the first week is more exciting than overwhelming. Leaning into your experiences is your best move. Here are the tips and tricks that I picked up

Moving in:

1) Online order on walmart or amazon and have everything sent to a store near your college.

2) Don't buy too much, you can live off of a lot less than you think

Making friends:

1) be open to talking to a lot of people.

2) Join clubs that interest you but don't put your email down for absolutely everything.

3) don't be pressured to go to parties or things that make you feel uncomfortable!

Choosing classes:

1) always add atleast one class that you think is just interesting, even if its not applicable to your major. Padding my coursework with a free elective really helped!

Hi Raylee-
My first week of school was a lot of fun!
I was meeting new people, Starting new classes, buying textbooks
and looking forward to learning and sharing ideas.
I think finals week (exams) was the hardest time for me but if you pace yourself
with studying you can have a good finals week.
Remember that everyone else is new too and they want to make friends
so it is probably the easiest time in your life to make new friends.
Some of my best friends now are people I met Freshman year in college and I am 65!
One piece of advice- Don't stay up too late hanging out and talking-
I got strep throat by not getting enough sleep and my room mate got mono!
2nd piece of advice- If you feel overwhelmed there is usually a counseling service
on campus to assist. It is a good idea to go there for support if you need it.
I went my sophomore year and learned a lot about myself by doing so.
Best of luck to you ! Enjoy!

What an exciting time in your life! If living away, be mindful of the different structure your life will have. My suggestion is to keep a routine and as much structure as possible, you can always make moderate changes along the line to adapt. I would also highly recommend getting involved with a study group early on, it's a way to collaborate and make friends at the same time. Get involved in campus life whether you're a commuter or live on campus. Take good care of your health by eating right and getting plenty of rest. Most of all, HAVE FUN!!
