Hui Yun’s Answer

Hi Nancy,

Hope you're doing well.

I'm glad you have this question come out of your mind. It means you care about yourself! Life is busy. Sometimes we just bombarded by information come from many sources until we forget to take care of ourselves.

Here's what i'm doing:
1. Spend sometimes alone every night, without phone. I'll just have a notebook and pen with me. Recall back what i did for the whole day.
2. Recall the feeling and emotion I have for the whole day. Satisfied, proud, loss, unfair, regret. I'll tell myself, all feeling/emotion are welcome and accepted, and it's now end of the day. I believe I can do better tomorrow and I'll try my best, and it's ok if I don't manage to perform better. I can try again the day after.
3. Plan a few special task for next day. I'll just plan 1 or 2 tasks per day, so I can easily achieve it after busy day-to-day work without pressure.
4. Listen to some soft music or favorite youtubers video before I go to bed.

It's simple steps for me and I just feel good about it. Think about yours! :)

Jennifer nails it. In life especially during the busy times you have to schedule time for yourself it is critical. If you schedule the time for yourself then you don't feel bad because it is built into your schedule.

"you have the mind of Socrates/Newton, it is only the dust which needs to be removed"

If you want to enhance your skills, you first need to self-realize it, and polish it to be excellent in it. I read it somewhere, if you continuously do a work for 21 days, without a miss it becomes a habit. Why not try to give time to yourself, that could be a walk after a meal.

Jessica’s Answer

Whew! As you get older the more and more you will realize the less time you have yourself. However, you should always try to make it a priority to make time to yourself. Take time out and get to know yourself! You will evolve as a person everyday and it is so amazing. Its a good thing to take peace and quiet and actually sit and collect your thoughts. It may not be a bad idea to write a list of your goals out and different things you would like to see or accomplish. Check each thing off your list as you complete them this will show you are progressing into a better you and actually making time for yourself. Surround yourself with people who understand the importance of making time for yourself. There will be some who will not understand it and would want you to make more time for them. For the sake of your mental stability and inner peace make as much time for yourself as you can. You will appreciate it the older you get.

Jessica recommends the following next steps:

Write down a list of personal goals
Make a list of different places you would like to visit

Rene’s Answer

Hi Nancy!

I used to ask that same question, until I realized that my question was not directed towards the person. This is a questions that you must ask yourself and a questions that you must also demand yourself to answer.

At one point, recently, I had two jobs and went to school full-time. This was my choice to advance my professional career. I knew that a lot of my time will be spend either working or studying. Of course, friends and family demand your attention as well, including daily responsibilities. It was probably the most challenging part of my life, especially thinking "well if this person can do it, so can I." What I had to find out was that that statement was true but missing information. It is important for your to evaluate your life and figure out the best plan of action based on your current situation. Everyone wants success, everyone wants love, everyone wants the same basic life goals but everyone does not live the exact same life or have the same background, beliefs etc.

Sooo, after evaluating my self, I started with little self care adventures (due to time constraints):

  1. dl meditation apps
  2. called my sisters more often
  3. walking on the water instead of on the busy street
  4. studying at a park

Eventually I found time for other things that I loved to do:

  1. mini hiking trips
  2. quick hangout with friends
  3. crafting
  4. exercise
  5. volunteer
  6. getting my nails done

The more I started to more for myself, time seem to open up to allow for time to myself. It could be as simple as taking 2 minutes to write something or look at funny videos.

It is also to important to appreciate your time for yourself in the moment. Being in the moment will make your will enhance your experience so much so that you will feel an immediate difference in emotions (calmer, happier) which will inevitably lead to better decision-making and organization for example.

:)

Rene recommends the following next steps:

Make a list of little things you want to do more of that is enjoyable
Do them!
