I am starting college classes in two days. I would like to know if you would reccommend getting a part time job, joining a club and a sport while keeping up with my studies? I am very interesting in the fashion merchandising club and I also would like to join the cheerleading squad.

Time management is very important as a college student, as well as doing your best in your studies, and being a positive and active part of the campus. I would recommend to start small, with joining one club, like the fashion merchandising club. This would help you meet others with the same interest, show your involvement to future employers, and being a positive contributor to campus activities.
Once you find you can still manage your studies and stay committed to a club or organization, you can begin to look for other ways to get involved.
If you're are interesting in a part-time job, checking campus jobs are the best way to go. These positions often work around your class times and study requirements, unlike an off-campus job that will expect you to be available when they need you.
With regards to sports, if it is a competitive sport, the college will want to see that you have done this during your high school years and even earlier. It's okay to pursue a sport you've never tried, but also understand there will likely be many students who have had a lot of training and experience in that sport who may get a spot on the team first. Often schools have "club" or "co-ed" sports, that allow students to participate on a team sport without having had any experience in that activity. This is a nice way to be a part of a team sport but without the high demands of regular practice that is often found with a competitive sport.
