Kayla’s Answer

In order to narrow down the schools you will apply to, try finding a couple of "stretch" schools and then some safety schools as well.

Some of the things you may want to consider are:

  • What are the schools academic requirements for acceptance? (GPA, SAT/ ACT Scores, etc)
  • Is the school in a place you would like to live for four years?
  • What would you like to be when you graduate? Will this school help you become that and provide those opportunities?

Once you have done some research on the above items, try making a visit to the school to see how you feel on campus and also try to visit some classes to see how the class sizes are. Many high schools offer a couple of days each year that can be used for college visits- make sure to use them!

Katcha’s Answer

In addition to the above, you may also want to consider the following:
1. Does attending college in-state/out-of state appeal to you
2. The amount of aid/scholarships schools are willing to give and how this factors into your specific financial situation
3. If you know ahead of time what you would like to major in, what is the school's ranking/performance in this specific area
4. Mission of the school and how that aligns with your values

David’s Answer

Consider cost and value of your education. Here is a site that will help you determine the values. Don't feel like you need to pay a lot to get a good education. Just make sure the school is good and that you will be able to get a good job when you graduate. This site should help.

Tammy’s Answer

First figure out what you enjoy and what interests you. Then - do you want to stay close to home or are you adventorous? Depending on your answer check out schools in the location that you want to live in. Don't be afraid to use Google or to reach out to different schools for them to send you information.
