Hi Avery,
Great question! I would recommend volunteering at your local hospital to get familiar with the environment. Many hospitals have volunteering programs that allow you to interact with patients and staff while getting a feel for the environment you would be working with. Hope this helps!

Congratulations on being interested in becoming a nurse. It takes a special person to enter this field and meet the demands which this career area presents. The first step is to get to know yourself to see if you share the personality traits which make nurses successful. The next step is doing networking to meet and talk to and possibly shadow nurses to see if this is something that you really want to do, as a career area could look much different on the inside than it looks from the outside.
Getting to know yourself and how your personality traits relate to people involved in various career opportunities is very important in your decision making process. During my many years in Human Resources and College Recruiting, I ran across too many students who had skipped this very important step and ended up in a job situation which for which they were not well suited. Following are some important steps which I developed during my career which have been helpful to many .
