Jamie’s Answer

Recommend cybersecurity or machine learning. it's the future. There is a huge shortage in cybersecurity professionals right now and the cyber threats are only going to grow. quite a few universities offer cyber security focused curriculum, such as University of Maryland.

Hi Scott,

Have you thought about trying your hand at some things in IT and seeing what you like?

A few ideas would be to make a website or help someone with a computer issue.

What do you love about tech?

Shivraj’s Answer

Hi Scott.
I think you should go through core computer science subjects first like basic programming, data structure and algorithms, networking, operating systems and database management. This knowledge will give you some insights about the computer science. Then you should try more time coding because according to me coding is going to be always in demand. If you like that then great otherwise you can try other things such as automation, buisness analyst, database administration. But according to me you should first go for the programming part. Try to create something like website or app and it will give you confidence.

Josh’s Answer

I have had several positions in different IT based roles. I have found that I am the happiest when I am doing something that I enjoy doing in my personal time. I like to analyze what I find myself doing during my free time (computer related), and then try and find a job in a related field. So if you're big into gaming, perhaps something to do with building or supporting a gaming company. If you like learning about new server technologies, a sys-admin might fit. But if you find yourself doing it in your personal time, it will help make your career less "work" and more enjoyable.
