Kelly’s Answer

Hey Peyton! In addition to studying acting, if you want to be a good Director you should also learn about the technology used in movie-making. A good Director will know which type of camera to use to capture the scene whether it's a dark and stormy night or a fast car chase. Taking a photography and/or film class will help you learn about how a movie is made.

Being familiar with the editing process is also helpful. If you have an Apple computer you can play around with the iMovie software. And if your family owns a GoPro you can use the free GoPro Studio Software to make videos of your own! There are easy templates that you can learn with to quickly put together a short video to share with your family and friends on a movie night.

Ken’s Answer

People who become actors take acting classes to become good actors. Movie directors many times are actors who have taken acting classes and then have taken further training to become movie directors. A good place to start is by participating school plays.
Good luck!
