Noelia, law enforcement! The best way to do this, is to become a police dispatcher. Apply in Mission. And the entire Rio Grande Valley, until you get hired. Listen to the scanner first. Http://Broadcastify.com/ Go to Global feeds/U.S./State/County. You should see yours clearly. A friend of mine in North Texas, was a dispatcher first, for two separate departments. Then he became a sergeant and a SWAT member, in Dallas.

Dear Noelia,
I beleive you are asking the wrong question. Do you mean, "Why type of careers in Ciminal Justice are Best Suited for a Person like me?"

What appeals to you about criminal justice RIGHT NOW? The chance to help a person who has made a mistake get back on track to their best life? TO exercise POWER AND CONTROL over those who are less worthy than you, who has never problem a law: not even forgetting to signal before your turn your car? TO build community connections as a walk the beat, or community organizer? TO be a prision guard with a regular schedule, job security & a uniform so you do not have to decide what to put on int he morning?
A;; are valid questions to ask. Which ONES are you asking?

My suggestion to anyone in Criminal Justice are to take classes in Psychology, child psychology, anthropology, micro and macro economics. Do one wishes to grow up to be a criminal like a firefighter or a Broadway dancer. It HAPPENS to those with unmet needs, both emotional and financial, who have no hope of getting those needs met elsewhere.

Important reading: AdultChildren.org. Most who break laws (caught or not) are one, and that includes you! UNderstand how childhood traumas impact adults thinking, and proven ways to redirect thinking and behavior chances to practice to find a whole person, and become a True Adult.

James’s Answer

Hello! Many different organizations and departments have law enforcement. There are the popular ones within the Department of Justice, such as the FBI or DEA. There are agencies within Homeland Security as well, such as ICE and CBP. There are also lesser-known ones such as the Diplomatic Security Service. They operate within the Department of State. This only covers the federal side. If you desire state or local law enforcement, that will depend on which state or municipality you are interested in. Criminal justice covers so much material. It depends on your passion. For example, if you want to stop terrorism, the FBI or ICE might be for you. If the war on drugs and cartel violence interests you, then maybe the DEA.
