Would it be too stressful to double-major in college?

I have several different courses I want to study but would the workload be too much?

Ross’s Answer

It totally depends. If you're working during school and double majoring, it may be too much unless you're willing to take a bit longer to graduate. However, not all schools handle the double major the same. It's definitely more doable at some schools, than others. Your ability to handle stress, adversity, and financially withstand the strain are all factors to consider.

Allison’s Answer

The short answer is no.  I had a double major and a double minor quite by accident.  The worst case is that you might have fewer elective choices, or in some cases (i.e. if you do a combined business and law degree), you may have to take an extra class here or there.

If you really love the focus areas of your dual majors, there really is not anything stressful about getting the right classes to claim both as your own!

Susie’s Answer

Emily,

It would depend on how passionate you are about studying both of the majors. If they are similar, you might be able to use the same course as fulfilling the requirements for both majors. My sister did a double major in Spanish and Finance and she loved both and would say it was worth doing both majors.
