Is the online server business profitable?

I am interested in hosting a Minecraft server for the purpose of creating a small income stream in the years ahead. The idea for the server is unique and I feel that it will attract many players, but I am wondering if all of the work will have any tangible results. I expect most of the money to come from online donations (via donator ranks, mostly), but I do not know how likely these donations will be. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Gladys’s Answer

Hi, online server or web host is very common. User traffic and number of active users are the keys to success in this business. Since competition is tense in this space, there is a high chance that you will not make a lot of profit from the core hosting service. Once you have a solid number of users, you can find companies to advertise on your site.

The start up cost is low, follow your heart and try it out.

Do you like programming? There is a large need for that service.
