Hi Noah,

That is a great question! When I was in school I dedicated a lot of time to filling out scholarship applications; worldwide scholarships, local and regional scholarships, and scholarships through my school. While I am not able to speak to the exact amount of hours that I put in, I can speak to the approach that I took. I allocated 8 hours each week to seeking out and applying for various scholarships. Most often this came in the form of spending an entire day on the weekend to applying for scholarships. I treated it as a 9-5 job one day a week and it certainly paid off. Be sure to keep in mind that it is not about how much time you dedicate, but the quality of the time that you spend on your applications. In order to find $70k in scholarships, you must be willing to write great essay answers and really put the time in to quality, heartfelt responses. Also, be thoughtful about how many global scholarships you apply for versus how many regional and school scholarships you apply for. The regional scholarships will likely have a smaller applicant pool, which will give you the opportunity to stand out among applicants. Overall, I think that you will find great success if you organize yourself, dedicate a large period of time towards your applications on a weekly basis, and put a great deal of thought and heart into your applications.

I wish you the very best and know that if you stick with it and do your best you will have great success!

Alexys recommends the following next steps:

Make a list of scholarships including deadlines
Dedicate a large amount of hours weekly to applying and seeking out applications
Talk to your financial aid office and advisers about known scholarships
