Hi Isaiah! This is a great question. You can increase your chances by:
1) Having a stellar resume - go into your school's career center and have them look over your resume as many times as you can.
2) Meet with career counselors to learn about job search strategies (aka where to look and how to look for internships). They will be able to connect you with local opportunities that will give you experiences to add onto your resume.
3) Find other relevant experiences to put on your resume and talk about with employers. These can include academic projects you've done for class, personal projects you've just done for fun, jobs you've had in the past, undergraduate research experiences you've done with professors, leadership positions in extracurricular clubs/activities/programs, etc.
4) Network at career fairs, information sessions, workshops, or whatever your school provides.

Hi Isaiah,
If you want to increase your chances of getting an internship, you need to put yourself out there. By that, I mean get your face and name in front of the recruiters as much as possible. If you are applying to internships through your school, contact the Career Development office and see if there is a contact for that company. You can email the recruiter just so they are familiar with your name and introduce yourself. Tell them why you are interested in the company and see when the next time they will be on campus so you can meet them.
