Is a Physics major smart?

I've always had a love for science and a career in physics would be perfect. However, the job field for physics majors is very competitive and finding a good job that isn't a high school teacher is rare. Should I still pursue this major?

Emily’s Answer

There are a lot of different options that follow a degree in Physics. The most immediately obvious is pursuing further education like a PHD and becoming a professor. But there are others! My undergraduate degree is in Physics and Mathematics. I enjoyed the more applied aspects of these two areas so I obtained a master's degree in mechanical engineering. Now I work as a mechanical design engineer to create and design new implantable medical devices.
