Biomedical engineering, is a very important area in the medical field because it contributes by developing instrumentation and equipment that helps avoid human error. This field is also involved in making sure that all the therapeutic and diagnostic machines are in compliance with the state. At the hospital where I work Radiology department works very close with biomedical engineers because when the machines brake down we call them in and they are there. This field allows you to work in different areas of medicine for example research, developing software for medical programs, quality assurance and even developing body implants. I think that the first thing to do for those that are interested is to shadow a biomed engineer. Some hospital have volunteer programs for high school students. Also ,there are many four year universities and take a look at the bureau of labor statistics and you will get a summary of detail related to this field. I hope this is useful information.
