The US Army, as all of the uniformed services, has qualification standards that must be met to become a member. Some of the qualifications are physical, like being between a height and weight standard. Another standard is your general aptitude that is tested with a standard series of written tests that categorize what you have an aptitude for. Some other qualifiers are your criminal record and medical history.
Joining any of the uniformed services is a commitment that shouldn't be taken lightly. When you join one of the services, you are volunteering to deploy to places you may not like, do things you may not want to and possibly give your life in defense of our country. That is a lot to ask, but America needs young people that are willing to serve their country and help to maintain our way of life.

Hello Charles, you must qualify first regardless if you enter as an enlistment or officer level. It's a wonderful career for many at either level. You should also consider other branches if you interested in joining the armed forces. My son joined the Navy after he graduated from college and is now an US Naval Aviator ... he is having the time of his life! Best of luck in what you decide and thanks for considering the US armed forces.
