Simon’s Answer

Hi. It really depends on what you want to do as a career. Your core classes (math English etc.) will give you the basics for most jobs, but you might be missing a great opportunity to explore specific areas if you don’t select useful elective classes. I would take time to think about what you like doing. For example, if you like problem solving maybe engineering will be a good direction. Technical careers need more science and math than business careers. Be sure to schedule a meeting with a school councilor and talk to him/her about your interests. He/she will help find some electives that can help you figure out what you may want to persue. Whatever you do, be sure to think about securing a job. Majors in Medieval history have much less opportunities than business or engineering majors. Good luck

Simon recommends the following next steps:

Think about what you enjoy doing or are interested in.
Talk to a school councilor and schedule pertinent classes to support your interest.
Go on line and look up specific career and career skills.

Ken’s Answer

If you follow through with the process of getting to know yourself better and meeting with people who are doing what you think that you might want to do based upon your interest and aptitude testing, as outlined in my answer to your other question, you will get a good feel for what you need to take in year 10. Please act on this promptly. I have seen too many cases that a student ends up paying for courses in college which they could have taken for free in high school - if they had planned properly. I would like to see you prevent that from happening.
