Hi Alex,

Before we discuss any project idea, we need to know how should we select our project?

For selecting any project you need to ask some questions to yourself fore example:

  • Is it beneficial for community ?

  • Does your robot solve any interesting technical problem which can't be solved otherwise?

  • Does it justify its costs?

This link suggest a list of ideas, examples and alternatives of projects:

Good luck in your project!

Hi Alex. There's a great website called Science Buddies, that provides "starter kits" for science fair projects. There's likely a section focused on robotics or electronics ... you should check it out!

Thank you comment icon Hi Alex, I have had endless success building top notch lego robots to do just about anything. I started building robots in a engineering design class and continued the practice on my own. Usually when you are starting a design project like building a robot you list your robotics project constraints and criteria. Zach R. Becker
Thank you comment icon Robot Purpose: Design and build a search and rescue robot example constraints/criteria: -must operate with little to no oxygen -must run on GPS system -must autonomously avoid incoming objects -must be lightweight -must have 8 hour operating interval -must be able to sense living organisms -must be able to pick up 300 lbs -etc This is a good starting point for a search and rescue robot design projects. Let me know if you need more guidance. Zach R. Becker

What about something that is line with the Mars Rovers....but a new one?
Also consider it having multiple tasks and parameters - for example - move forward 10 feet, pick something up, and reverse to initial spot within a certain time frame.
Also it is fun to make obstacle courses for your robot to perform tasks within.
