Monica’s Answer

College can be stressful at time, however, if you stay organized it is totally manageable! Once you get the hang of your schedule and assignments, the stress will ease! I would encourage you to get a daily planner and get into a habit of making daily to-do lists. These 2 tools helped me immensely. Good luck in college and remember to enjoy it! I worked hard, but had so much fun and made some of my best friends while at college!

Yes, college is stressful, but it's also incredibly fun. You'll learn a lot academically, about yourself, and about others. Don't let the stress push you away from attending. Stress is a constant in life, and you'll experience it even outside of college.

Hi Madie,

As with any new undertaking, there will be some stress involved. You may feel overwhelmed at first while you're trying to learn a new schedule, a new routine, a new way of doing things. But, that's okay. Give yourself some grace and know that you will find your groove!

Here are some helpful ideas for you:

1. Take Monica's advice and get a planner of some kind. Planners come in all sorts of sizes and layouts. I like to use Happy Planners - they have some inserts specifically for school! If you don't want to get a planner, use Google calendar or something like that and connect the calendar to your phone. You can set reminders to pop up.

2. Stay organized. Whether you are staying on- or off-campus, or are an online student, it's imperative to keep things organized so you can access them quickly as you need to. Have a specific place that you keep your books, binders, pens, paper, etc. so you don't have to go searching for it.

3. Due Dates. Stay on top of due dates. Write these in your planner so you know what's coming up. And don't procrastinate!

4. Don't procrastinate. You caught that, right? LOL I said it twice. One of the best ways to eliminate stress in college is to stay ahead of your work. This might sometimes mean staying in to work on an assignment instead of going to the pizza place with friends. C'est la vis!

5. Ask questions. You will inevitably have questions about something at some point. Whether it's something about an assignment, a due date, or you need clarification on something, ask the question. Don't assume you or your fellow students know the answer. Get it directly from the teacher's mouth!

Good luck!
