How do I gain experience?
I am 18 and a senior in high school and want to go into directing, but how do I gain experience and get a hold of some of the basics before I graduate? #film

The suggest to find list training offer or if you in college offer training grain experience etc

One of the best options is to look for a Summer internship. You can use sites like https://staffmeup.com/ or http://offstagejobs.com/ to find internships or jobs in your area. Be honest about your current level of experience. Employers are most willing to take a blank slate more than someone who claims to know everything, but really does not.
Go to college. Accredited film schools exist and will provide you with a plethora of skills for practical use in the industry. Do not be discouraged and stay open to every possibility.
