Gabriel’s Answer

fastweb.com and scholarships.com are kind of the two industry fav's. Just remember...never pay to apply for a scholarship. If you can, set up a different e-mail specifically for that purpose. While services are free, you will get some junk mail. So, better to isolate from your everyday e-mail.

And PLEASE...make sure you fill out your FAFSA form...

I work in financial aid...I have for 20 years. Every school has their own model. When you fill out the FAFSA, list the schools you are interested in. Some will send you something in the mail even if you don't pay to apply at that point.

Hope this helps a little. You got this!

Jennifer’s Answer

A lot of schools have their own scholarship applications so I would start there. There are also some goofy ones that are sometimes worth trying for since not a lot of people apply for them. One example I remember was a scholarship for people over a certain height. It was not a large scholarship but even the little amounts can add up and make a difference. There may also be scholarships out there for parents wanting to go back to school. If you are a working parent, some companies pay for you to go back to school and learn new skills they deem beneficial to the company.

Jennifer recommends the following next steps:

Do some research to see if there are any working parent scholarship programs and apply to those.
Do some research on scholarships unique to your state - they may seem goofy but every penny counts!
If you work, see if your company offers any scholarships.
Look for scholarships given by the schools you are considering.
