Rachel’s Answer

Really good question! Nursing programs are intense and long, but for good reason. Most basically, this is because the public places a large amount of trust in nurses and, in many cases, they put their lives in our hands. It takes many years and extensive clinical practice to learn how to manage patient care. Nurses focus on holistic care, meaning we look at how the patient physically, emotionally, spiritually and psychologically respond to disease processes and treatments. It takes time to even master the basics of this practice. While it is hard work, it is worth it!

Hang in there Jessica! While I am not a nursing degree holder, I know many :). Nursing is such a critical skill and requires the mastery of both science as well as the soft skills necessary in working with patients. There is a great article at https://www.nursingtimes.net/nursing-to-become-degree-only-profession/1832902.article that shapes the conversation that you may find interesting too.
