Hi Paige! Yes you put in your parents'/guardian's information and then after some time to process the application the schools will get back to you and let you know what you qualify for. You should receive a financial aid package from the schools you apply to! Make sure to fill everything on time so you can get considered, sometimes if there are delays it could prevent you from getting the full aid.

Check out the FAFSA website below for more information!

Best of luck!

Hi, when you fill out the FAFSA your information is sent to the school of your choice. The school's financial aid office will then consider you for grants and loans that you qualify for. You will also be considered for scholarships.

Followup with your college's financial aid office for more information.

Jason’s Answer

Yes, the learning institutions you apply too will try of find a match for all types of financial aid. Many of the the grant program are based on need. So if you have to include your parent's income which is very common, it makes it much more difficult to qualify for free money. Assuming you are accepted, most institutions will likely find a way to get funding, but do your best to get the grants and subsidized loans. Also, don't be afraid to work part time and hit up your local institutions that offer scholarships.

Its really unfortunate that the US Government literally provides loans to banks at nearly 0% interest, and those Banks then sell these loans to Students at usury interest rates. Furthermore, they have a very strong lobby which continues to make it impossible get load forgiveness. These comments are not meant to scare you, but you definitely need to make sure the degree you target will give you the earning potential to cover you debt and give you the standard of living you are seeking.
