What do Operations Research Analysts do on a daily basis?

Data Analysts, Scientists, Engineer, Operations Research Analyst are all to a large extent solving the same problem. Looking at data to help make decisions. The boundaries continue to blur between these roles and we expect new category of Designations to come in near future. To answer the question though, Operations Research Analysts to a large extent looks at finding an optimal solution for a problem. "Optimal" and "solution" are the key (meaning forecasting, or prediction do not really come under this at this moment)

Analyst play with the numbers. They will find out solution to any number that you will provide to them.

Its kind of very interesting job. They will work on SQL, R, Python, Excel etc.

Collecting data on consumers, competitors and market place and consolidating information into actionable items, reports and presentations. Understanding business objectives and designing solutions are all part of operations analyst professional.

You would have to analyze data (numbers) and give advice to top management on the status of things depending on your analysis or calculations. You have to like mathematics and have good communication skills. I hope that I answered your question.
