Estelle’s Answer

My niece just got accepted to PA school here in Texas. She graduated with a bachelor of science in biology from a four year university then applied to PA school which is another 2 years. Between college and PA school, she worked as a scribe for a pulmonologist. This really gave her insight into medical practices and the language of medicine.

John’s Answer

I would start with some general education supporting your field like Biology and Science. You can likely get started with an AA degree through your local community college. You might consider volunteering at a local hospital to get a feel for the environment. This is also a good resume builder.

I'm not a P.A. but sister started this way to become a dental assistant.

Good luck!

John recommends the following next steps:

Check out certificate programs at your local community college
Inquire at a local hospital or medical clinic about volunteer opportunities.
