Carol’s Answer

Hi Marian

While I have not recruited specifically for midwives, I have found that the best way to find out about any career is to go online and ask.

So I went on Google and asked. From what I can see the average Certified Nurse Midwife salary in the United States is $106,582 as of December 01, 2018, but the range typically falls between $98,003 and $120,770.

If you look at the Bureau of Labor and Statistics they have more breakdowns. I can’t copy and past it all…..so you can try to access the URL I added below or type into Google “Occupational Employment and Wages, May 2017 29-1161 Nurse Midwives” to get the information.

But here is the jist….this is for a Certified Nurse Midwife-Hourly Wage

On the low end, folks make $31.97 an hour. Some make $41.62 an hour. It appears that the middle range for this profession is $48.36 an hours

There more is information out there that will tell you what people do in certain careers, other sites that might describe a typical day in the role, jobsites with openings and job descriptions as well as salary ranges for the positions, etc. YouTube may have videos explaining the same. If you look at multiple sites, look for consistencies in what they say. This should help you feel more comfortable that the information you are reading is accurate.

Hope this helps. Feel free to reach back out.

Carol
