Hey Albany

Firstly let me appreciate your interest in taking this up, Singing is a great form of art . To Start with you can regularly practice at home and pick on different songs and different genres.

There is a musical degree i.e. Music theory, music performance , or named differently under different universities

United States has good universities for Music Degrees and Diploma's, Costing anywhere between $20000 to $40000 depending on the kind of university you choose

Here are some of the best Universities for Music Degrees

 • VoCo Vocal Coach.
 • Warm Me Up for Singers.
 • Perfect Piano.
 • Theta Music Trainer.
 • LaDiDa.
 • Red Karaoke Sing and Record.
 • Pocket Pitch.

Hi there! Fellow singer here. The great thing is, you don't have to go to college to be a singer. I definitely encourage you to go to college, and there are some great schools for music; University of North Texas is near me and is a great one. However, unless you specifically want a degree in music performance, studying voice in college doesn't guarantee that you will find work as a singer. Also, there are plenty of private vocal coaches that you can hire to give you lessons. Honestly, I'd start with private lessons because many schools will require you to audition for the music program anyways. So you will want to prepare for that.

The real question is, what type of singing/performance are you interested in? If you're looking to join a band, you could start by searching out local bands near you that are auditioning singers. If you're interested in theater/classical, I'd recommend starting out at a small local production, get some experience and work your way up. Ultimately, your talent, and how hard you're will to work at it will determine how far you go. Having a good, humble attitude, and being easy to work with will help too!

That said, there are many jobs related to music beyond performance that can be just as rewarding. That is where I would recommend finding a school that you like and looking into a degree like music business or music education. You can still do the performance and get some experience along the way to your degree.

Best of luck!!
