Hi! This is a great question with a few different concentrations. For example, you could go into a position in the medical field in a children specific hospital be it nurse, doctor, physical therapist that specializes in child rehab, child therapist who does things like speech or mental issues or you could go under your own practice and become a pediatrician. It would be completely up to you in terms of how much medical training you wanted to go to school for or whether or not you wanted to do in terms of do you want to have private practice or hospital.
Good Luck!

Hello Alex: Awesome that you want to work with children. My son is a resident Pediatrician and volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher of approximately 15 first graders while in high school.
You could also work as a pre school Teacher. They work with children in great numbers. There are many other opportunities out there were you could work with children. Be mindful that some professions may require a background check, drug test, etc. Hope this helps.
Best of Luck to You!

Let's dive into the exciting world of medical careers that revolve around children. It's a truly fulfilling path with numerous options, each one packed with unique responsibilities and the chance to positively shape the lives of young ones.
One of the most direct routes to working with children in the medical field is to become a Pediatrician. These are the superheroes who specialize in offering medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. From diagnosing and treating various illnesses and injuries to focusing on preventive care and overall well-being, pediatricians do it all. Plus, they often form lasting bonds with their patients and families, providing consistent care as the children grow.
Becoming a pediatrician requires a bachelor’s degree, four years in medical school, and a residency program in pediatrics. It's a path that demands a significant commitment to education and training, but the reward is the chance to make a profound difference in children's lives.
Pediatric Nursing is another fantastic career choice if you're keen on working closely with children in a medical setting. Pediatric nurses are the caring souls who look after children from infancy to adolescence. They can be found in hospitals, clinics, pediatricians’ offices, or other healthcare settings. Their duties include administering medications, monitoring patient conditions, offering emotional support to both the young patients and their families, and educating them about their health needs.
To become a pediatric nurse, you'll need to complete a nursing program and obtain a nursing license. Some nurses go the extra mile and pursue additional certification specifically in pediatric nursing.
Then we have Child Life Specialists, the professionals who concentrate on the emotional and developmental needs of children facing challenging medical experiences. These specialists work in hospitals and other healthcare settings, providing support to children and their families. They use play therapy, education, and other techniques to help children understand medical procedures and feel more comfortable during their hospital stay.
To become a child life specialist, you'll typically need a bachelor’s degree in child life, child development, psychology, or a related field. Many professionals in this role also obtain certification through the Child Life Council.
So, in a nutshell, there are several fulfilling career paths in the medical field for those who want to work with children. Whether you're interested in becoming a pediatrician, pediatric nurse, or child life specialist, each role provides the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of young patients and their families.
