Simply put, an electrician has more practical knowledge about everyday electrical applications across households, businesses and manufacturing locations. Electrical engineers on the other hand study for a four year degree that teaches them the theoretical principles of electrical generation and transmission. They also study calculus, electronics, computer programming etc. They get limited practical exposure through labs.
Both electricians and electrical engineers are in good demand. By the way, I have studied Electrical Maintenance at a vocational level, and I have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
