Hi Ourania,

There are ways to advance in your field. Most of them lead to more certifications or education. I used to work in the oilfield where I came across rig electricians who made very good salaries but most needed to undergo more certifications to get where they are. I would recommend setting up a linkedin account, if you haven't already, and contact those folks to get more idea.

Also please see the links below and spend some time on them to get a more better understanding of your options:

Hope this helps

Asim A. recommends the following next steps:

See where you stand your current and out-there certifications. Check out job positions on Indeed and Monster to see what employers are looking for.
Network on Linkedin to see if getting certifications might help you career wise. No point of spending money on something that does not have a market.
Make a small but definite resume of your work along with any interesting projects that might highlight your skills. We live in an tech savvy world and if you highlight them publicly it can lead better opportunities.

Hi Ourania,
There are two ways to advance yourself in your career, not only in Electrician field but any technical field:

First One:
Let life take the control & flow with the flow. You need to do lot of hard work & will able to reach at certain stage in your career.

Section Option:
The reason which can halt your growth will be qualification. To go up in ladder of career, sooner or later you need to qualify the minimum criteria of getting selected for new opportunity. That means you need higher qualification via higher education or better higher level certification. You know you can go for PHD in Electrical if you want :) . It's all on you which path you take.

What I suggest, go for second option, do lots of study and do certification or degree with your current job. Just consider your current job is giving you pocket money to earn for higher education. This need total dedication & will power & always say these words to yourself ..
YES, I CAN DO THIS.

Good Luck
