Hi Michael. That's a great question. It depends on what type of job you want to get. Some fields don't require a portfolio at all. Some do. Here are some examples:
- Graphic designers need portfolios containing designs and concepts they've put together (on a personal website or on a sure like dribbble)
- Programmers need code samples (often in a public GitHub account)
- Most business jobs don't require a portfolio at all.
If you comment on this answer with an explanation of what type of job you're interested in, I'll edit my answer to be more helpful.

Michael,
Looking at your other questions, it appears you are interested in material handling and distribution. You should not need a portfolio for these positions. What I would encourage you to do though, is start working on finding ways to demonstrate that you would be good for these jobs. If you are looking for an entry-level warehouse position, for example, look for things that show your concern for safety, speed, accuracy, teamwork, dependability, and the ability to do physical work. This does not have to come from other jobs. It is possible to use school involvement to demonstrate these things, such as by participating in sports, band, etc.
While you may not need a portfolio, you do want to start a folder where you save your performance appraisals once you start work, and also keep records of all jobs you have so you will have complete entries on subsequent job applications. Also save everything nice somebody writes about you - thank you notes from customers, etc. You never know where your career will lead you, and these things may come in handy down the road!
