Min-Sun’s Answer

Hi Kevon

Great thought to get into tech! There are many fields in tech and some of them don't need to too technical. Here are some suggestions.

  • Data modeling/data visualization: if you like data and want to make it insightful with graphs and charts, go for data visualization area. First of all, you will need to develop Microsoft Excel skills to learn how to set up data for data visualization. Excel has its own data visualization features to create charts and graphs. Next steps or more serious visualization skills would be Tableau or Microstrategy. I suggest to watch Youtube videos to learn about Tableau and Microstrategy quickly. If you like them, I suggest to take some online classes at Udemy or Udacity. I think students may be able to download Tableau software for a limited time for free. Please, click the link for the info
  • Analytics: If you go deep dive into more data, then you can explore more options to be a data analytics expert. Google offers free Google analytics academy classes.
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning: It depends on your major or interest. If you are very new to programming and not sure about learning coding, there are some machine learning applications such as DataRobot for non-technical people. If you like math/statistics and/or coding, you can take some classes at Udemy or Udacity to get into AI/machine learning. These classes are not free, but quite affordable compared to other sites.

Min-Sun recommends the following next steps:

Check youtube videos for Excel data and Tableau to just understand what these options are helping for data visualization
Check Tableau site to get the free software for students
Explore Tableau using Youtube, Udemy, or Udacity
