Ron’s Answer

Hi Latasha,

I'm so happy to see folks considering the impact they make on the world. You are taking the first step just by considering and being aware of your impact.

I'd recommend starting small. Find a simple issue or problem that you can have an impact on. Use this to sharpen your skills at problem identification through to solution. As you gain confidence you can expand out and involve others to be agents of change alongside you.

Technology can be a great enabler and multiply your impact. As you hone your skills and develop your person network you can use online crowdfunding and petition tools to increase your reach.

Ron recommends the following next steps:

Find something small that you can have a direct impact on. Go make that impact.
Gradually expand the scope of your changes.
Involve others, grow your network.
Teach others the skills you've learned so they can start making their own changes.

Madison’s Answer

Stay authentic and true to yourself . Keep your values close to you. A quote I love is " Be the change you want to see in the world. " If you keep that in your mind and in your heart everything you do can be a good impact.

Name one thing you've done this week that has been positive

Joshua’s Answer

I would say the first step is asking what you can do to help, so you are already well on your way to making a difference, Latasha!

If you step back far enough, or read too many news headlines, it can look like more is going wrong than right in the world around us. That is a really tough problem to solve as just one person! I've found it helpful to stop and identify specific areas where I can apply my curiosity and work ethic to help a group of people who are working together to make a difference. So far this has lead me to positions in two different companies who have something about making a positive impact in the world right in their mission statements. By finding a role where I can do my part every day to support people who are focused on fixing a problem, I can more easily see the ways I'm actively making a difference make a change in the world around me.

I'm so happy you are asking this question. Your desire to see change in the world around you will lead you on a path to have a real, positive impact, and I'm excited to see what that will be!
