There are many schools that provide nursing programs. Most schools that offer nursing programs will have a pre nursing class curriculum to follow. Academic advisors will be great help. There is a strong biology focus and normal undergraduate class work needs for critical thinking. Pharmacology is going to be tough class while in nursing school and pay close attention in math classes. You will need them for medication dose conversions.

One of the key things about nursing school is to just get in somewhere. This is a very competitive environment so just get into a program . Some of the smaller schools are good and from there you can specialize. I am from a small town in Mississippi here in the US and most college nursing programs follow a national course work so just get into a program. You will find great opportunities if go further after nursing school to go to PA (physician assistant) school or become a nurse practitioner. You can own your own health facility as a nurse practitioner. You may also want to look into anesthesia progams to become a CRNA (Certified Nurse Anethesist)

I went to nursing school and if is always beneficial to attend the school where you can take pre nursing courses. At that point you can transition to nursing school easier. There are pre nursing classes that advisors at the school can discuss with you. Most are going to be biology based but you also need to take some writing courses that are normal in college curriculum. The key about nursing is that you should plan to become a nurse practitioner after nursing school. From there you can own emerg care facility for family practice. Also if you so critical care for 2 years, you can go in to nurse anesthesia program. You will need to go pass just getting your nursing degree. Get masters or do Physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or nurse anesthesia programs. The key is you must make good grades and put all efforts into this.

There are several ways you can become a nurse but most people become a nurse by either going to a 4-year university or a community college. Going to a 4-year university will allow you to become a BSN (Bachelor's of Science in Nursing) while going to a community college will allow you to become an ADN (Associates Degree in Nursing). After you get either an ADN or a BSN, you will then have to take the NCLEX-RN test to get your license to practice in a healthcare setting. Keep in mind that "while you can work as an RN with an associate's degree, nurses with a BSN are typically given more responsibility, supervisory roles and higher salaries." I would recommend you to volunteer or do an internship to see whether you are comfortable in the healthcare setting and also see what other jobs you might be interested in.

Jasmine recommends the following next steps:

Participate in volunteer and internship opportunities to gain experience.
Apply to either a community college or a 4-year university.
Check their specific catalog of courses you can take to complete your degree.
Graduate
Take the NCLEX-RN test for license.
