Public relations is heavily focused on storytelling, no matter what sector/industry you pursue. Technology will evolve throughout your schooling and change multiple times during your career, so beware of focusing too much on singular tech trends. Instead, be a strong writer and speaker, and network as much as possible! Remember, a good PR practitioner helps a broad audience understand the complexities of a topic. It doesn't require you to be the expert of said topic. Keep aware of technology - it is a crucial tool - but don't let it dictate your PR career path, even if you are pursuing a tech-specific PR role.

It's more important to be PR savvy going in. You can't know the ins and outs of all tech. There are people who spend 4+ years learning this stuff. Instead you should research any company that you're working with and learn the best you can. Present yourself as someone confident with tech thanks to your personal use but don't try to make yourself an expert. Your role is to take the tech stuff and make sure a wider audience can understand it. Again, you're not an engineer.
