What are the most important issues facing future generations, and how can technology tackle them?

Massive issues such as climate change, running out of resources, and healthcare limitations face my generation. I am wondering which, if any, should be prioritised by governments in which to fund a solution? How can we, as young people, help to solve any of this? Thank you! #tech

I would say a few of the most important issues facing future generations are student debt, homelessness, and climate change. Technology can help with student debt via apps such as SoFi (https://www.sofi.com) that allow people to refinance their debt and develop plans to best assist students in payments. As far as homelessness, hot mapping allows people from their respective computers to map remote areas that are difficult to see on Google Maps, etc. Once people are able to identify such locations, we can provide aid to these individuals much faster. Also - technology allows people to crowd source funds for such causes! Last (but certainly not least), technology is helping the world create alternative sources of energy to reduce the rapid rate of climate change (https://www.forbes.com/sites/rrapier/2018/10/16/how-a-technology-from-iceland-is-fighting-climate-change/31418ffa24bd).

I think the problems you mentioned are all valid and as young generations we should think on how we resolve those challenges. I also think that the some of the problems could be eased by providing education to developing countries or rural areas. If we keep accelerating in only certain part of the world, there will be a massive gap and it won't solve the global problem efficiently.

If everyone in the world has at least an opportunity to receive education, they will gain holistic view and understanding and they can also be part of the solution. I think Coursera is doing a great job by providing online education but also note that a lot of people in developing countries are not able to afford internet connection. If young generations could think on how to bridge the gaps and to provide education to the most rural areas that'd be a great start.

This is very interesting question. Future generations can be hundreds of years or even thousands from now. The current main issue is the survival of humans on earth. The environment, global resources, weapons of mass destruction, but mainly artificial viruses or genome manipulation that may destroy humanity. If we overcome these issues, then we will start spreading in the universe and it will introduce new issues that are difficult to envision. At that time, we will start playing with the universe creation. It is very feasible that humanity is just a phase in evolution and the main issue will be survival against new evolving intelligent people that will destroy us. Good luck.
