It's the best job in the world. (Of course I am biased.) I love making games, working with people that make games, and helping see our ideas come to life and get published in the various app stores.

Hello Moto,
I would first make sure you know exactly what a Video Game Designer is, you might already know but I was a bit confused when I started out.
So... a Games Designer plans the systems and mechanics of the game.
This involves planning the progression, the difficulty curve and the energy mechanics.
The specialism of Games design is broken down even more focused specialisms, for example Level Designer or Economy Designer.
I have known Games Designers make prototypes, balance difficulty and plan to the exact detail the player's journey through the game.
In my experience, a Games Designer does not do any art.
This is more the job of an Environment Artist, UI Designer/Artist , Character Artist, Animator, Technical Artist etc.
So if your passion is for planning in detail intricate interconnected systems of game mechanics and progression cycles, this could be a dream role for you, although if you want to write the story or do the art this might not be the role you are looking for.
Best of luck in your journey :)
Find some E3 or Video Game conference talks by Games Designers
Maybe read a few web articles about Game Design ( https://www.gamedesigning.org/become-a-game-designer/ )
Consider reading the Wikipedia article on Game Design ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_design )
