Some general skills that I use everyday in my job as an accountant are:
Excel- basic skills, plus v-lookups, pivot tables, and sumif functions

Project Management- being able to think analytically about different work streams and the to-do lists needed to get each to completion

As a consultant, the core skills I use every day are: listening, problem solving, communication, computer skills, and my knowledge of finance and accounting. The ability to listen to someone, understand this situation, and then be able to propose ideas for them to consider to improve the tasks they have to do every day is a very key skill.
